Norwegian Weddings in Barcelona
I have a special feeling towards the Norgegian people: the majority of non-Spanish weddings I photographed all this years are Norwegian, and also in 2015 the Norwegian publisher Kagee Forlag chose me to be the photographer of their Barcelona Guide: Barcelona. 100 unike opplevelser.
As aWedding Photographer based in Barcelona, I receive very often an email from a Norwegian couple who is getting married in the “Norwegian” Church of Barcelona. Most of the times, they refer to a church called Ntra. Sra. del Rosario PP Dominicos (Convento de Santa Catalina), a Dominican Church.
The church is rented to them by The Norwegian Seamen’s Church (Sjømannskirken), a religious organization serving Norwegians and other Scandinavians traveling abroad.
And once I also photographed a Norwegian wedding in another church called Deutsche Evangelische Gemeinde Barcelona, which is located uptown and not downtown like Nuestra Señora del Rosario PP Dominicos.
Usually in this weddings there are just a few guests, or there are no guests at all! If you are not Scandinavian it may sound strange to you, like it sound strange to a Spaniard (that thinks “the more the merrier”), but it seams very common in those countries!
The Norwegian couples hire me from 3 to 6 hours: sometimes I take photos of the bride getting ready at their hotel, but most of the times I start photographing the ceremony and after that we go for a photo shoot in Gothic Quarter, Born Quarter or even just in the Parc de la Ciutadella and Arc de Triomf, places which are very close to the Dominican Church.
In case you are Norwegian or Scandinavian and you are planning to get married in Ntra. Sra. del Rosario PP Dominicos, here is some useful information:
